You don’t have to think about travel and vacations being in the same category as expensive or costly anymore. There are many beautiful places worldwide that are good for your wallet while providing the most fantastic experience ever. Of these places, I have been to myself and can assure you that you’ll have fun without worrying about the value of your money.

So here are the top 5 best and cheapest places to travel to around the world:

  1. Central America

These middle countries in Central America like El Salvador, Nicaragua, and Honduras are ideal for the perfect beaches, food, tropical rainforests, and rich Mayan history. In these countries, you can find hotels for just $15 a night and food for around $3. You can enjoy a nice, cold beer for only $1 right on the beach. Central America is a biodiversity hotspot with so much to explore.

  1. Cambodia

Cambodia is located in the southern portion of southeast Asia. Cambodians are friendly to tourists and have amazing food. Cambodia is famous for its cultural heritage which is a unique experience for every visitor. You can get food for $2 and hotels with air-conditioning and transportation for only $20. If you want to try their famous coconut fish curry and indulge in its unique history, Cambodia is the place for you.

  1. South Korea

I had a friend go to South Korea for his study abroad program and when he came back, he couldn’t stop talking about this country. South Korea is such a fun place because it’s the perfect mix of countryside filled with cherry trees and high-tech, upbeat cities roaring with nightlife. Most meals here cost less than $8 and transportation is very cheap. Go visit South Korea if you’re ready for a good time on a budget.

  1. Eastern Europe

Countries like Poland, Romania, Bulgaria, Belarus, and Slovakia are such gems that people should visit more often. I actually have been to Poland and Slovakia myself and the people there are so nice and welcoming. They seem to always be happy which I loved. You can pay only around $8 a night in some of these countries and even less for food and transportation. Beer only costs about $1 in these countries as well. So, if you want to see giant castles, salt mines, beautiful cities, and talk to some pretty nice people, Eastern Europe is the place to be.

  1. Portugal

Portugal is another place I recently just visited and absolutely fell in love with. There is no doubt in my mind that I won’t be going back to this wonderful country. Portugal is full of gorgeous beaches, buildings, and booming nightlife. My friends and I got a private coastal boat ride for three hours and unlimited drinks for only $40. I had one of the most amazing meals in my entire life there for only about $20. However, I got four different dishes, so $20 for four meals was pretty great.

I believe that traveling and experiencing new cultures is vital to the human experience. I know I have grown into a better version of myself with every place that I have visited. Here’s an article from The Washington Post that shows how you transform after traveling.

So if you want to enjoy all the wonders the world has to offer while staying on a budget, you know where to go. Go visit one of these places and see how much you can save while having the time of your life.
