Europe is a dream destination for many people around the world. There are so many amazing countries to see there. Europe is full of:

  • Great food
  • Nice people
  • Rich history
  • Ancient castles
  • Beautiful landscapes
  • And a large mix of different languages and cultures.

If you’re looking to book a trip to Europe, but have no idea where to start, hopefully, this blog will help you decide. I’m going to tell you about my personal experience in this certain country. My time there was short, and wild, but so much fun.

The country I’m talking about is Portugal. Porto, Portugal to be exact. I was recently in Porto over the Summer for my birthday.

I was so excited to spend my 21st birthday in Portugal. I went with a group of my friends, we booked a private boat tour for the night we arrived, and I bought a really expensive nice pink dress that I was planning on wearing. It seemed like this was going to be the best birthday so far.

However, once we got to our Airbnb and unpacked our luggage, I was so excited to put on my birthday dress. I rushed to the bathroom, changed, and then something caught my attention fast. Somehow, the zipper on my very expensive birthday dress had broken. It was unfixable. I instantly hit freak-out mode.

We did have three hours until we had to be at the marina for our boat tour. So, I made the decision to trek to a fabric store that was within walking distance from our Airbnb and hopefully have enough time to relax before the tour.

The people working at the fabric store managed to perform a miracle and fixed my zipper so that it finally worked. I was so grateful for them, not only because they set it, but because they did it right away with a huge language barrier in front of us and kind smiles.

After that fiasco of mine, everything about Porto was perfect. My birthday boat tour was so fun and the crew working it was so lovely. The nightlife was booming with lots of people, crazy lights everywhere, and fun music at every doorstep. The castles in Porto were so magnificent they almost seemed fake. Porto is also home to the most beautiful bookstore in the world. I tried to go, but the line was about five blocks long. The people of Porto were just so welcoming as well. There was so much more that I could have experienced if I stayed longer. I am already planning my next trip back there over the Summer. Portugal left such a special place in my heart.

The prices of things were not bad either. Most drinks and coffee I got were about $3. The private boat tour was only $40 and the Airbnb was so cheap compared to how much space we got.

So if you’re thinking about going to Europe for the first time, but don’t know where to start, I highly suggest visiting Portugal. Explore Portugal and all the amazing things it has to offer.
