This photo project was for a gateway class I took about two years ago. We had many different projects in this class, but this one was particularly my favorite. We had to shoot different styles of photos and apply captions to all of them. We got to choose what we wanted to take photos of, so I decided to shoot my friend skateboarding.

Maddie Devilbiss started skateboarding at only six years old. She likes to spend a lot of her free time at the WJ Skatepark beneath the I-105 bridge.

Devilbiss decided to start competing in skateboarding competitions at a young age. Since she already knew how to surf, Devilbiss found skateboarding easy to pick up.

At eight years old, Devilbiss learned how to do an ollie. An ollie is all about the right foot positioning, along with the right timing.

Her favorite skateboard to use currently is one that she bought four years ago, which contains green and yellow designs on the bottom of the board.

Skateboarding is all about learning your balance, making sure you are putting the right amount of weight on each foot and learning how to gain speed. Devilbiss feels exhilarated and excited whenever dropping into bowls and massive ramps.
